EatReceipts Privacy Policy

EatReceipts helps people discover and share dish-level reviews at restaurants and other venues. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we may collect your email address, username, display name, profile photo, authentication identifiers, and account settings.

Review and media information

When you post content, we collect the reviews, captions, tags, photos, videos, receipt-related information, venue information, timestamps, and other content you submit. Posted reviews and media may be visible to other users.

Location information

EatReceipts uses location to show nearby venues and relevant dish reviews. We may collect location information you provide, location metadata from uploaded media when available, venue location, and your approximate or precise location when you grant permission.

Device, usage, and diagnostics information

We may collect device information, IP address, app version, operating system, logs, crash reports, and usage events to operate, secure, debug, and improve the app.

Support and safety information

If you contact us or report content, we collect the information needed to respond, investigate, moderate content, and protect the community.

How we use information

We use information to:

• create and manage accounts;
• display reviews, media, venues, and nearby results;
• personalize app content and recommendations;
• detect spam, abuse, fraud, unsafe content, or policy violations;
• provide support;
• debug, secure, and improve the app;
• comply with legal obligations.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information with service providers that help us operate EatReceipts, such as authentication, hosting, storage, maps, analytics, crash reporting, moderation, and customer support providers. These providers may only use the information to provide services to EatReceipts.

Public content you post, such as reviews, photos, videos, ratings, tags, and venue-linked information, may be visible to other users.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transfer.

Tracking and advertising

EatReceipts does not use your data to track you across other companies’ apps or websites for targeted advertising unless we specifically disclose this and ask for any required permission.

Data retention and deletion

We keep information as long as needed to provide the app, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce our terms.

You can delete individual content where the app allows it. If you create an account, you can initiate account deletion in the app from Settings → Delete Account. When an account is deleted, we delete or de-identify personal information unless we need to keep limited information for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or operational reasons.

Children

EatReceipts is not intended for children under 13. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, but no system is completely secure.

Your choices

You can control location access, photo access, notifications, and other permissions through iOS settings. You can contact us to ask privacy questions or request account help.
